Maieutic workshops, organised every six months in the frame of the project Borgo di Dio, represent, for local community and for everyone who would like to participate, an opportunity for gaining a simple and active medium of communications. Thanks to this medium, people can express themselves about the future of Borgo di Dio and also about the activities of the project, so that they can make a monitoring and a common evaluation of the project.
This method of bottom-up participation and communication will help people to give value to their own ideas as well as to take into account different point of view; it will also help people to understand and evaluate different phenomena. In addition, this feature will enable participants to develop their own point of view about the project, as they can eventually give their contribution and so strengthen that method called “bottom-up planning”.
The first two maieutic workshops were organised on 13th October 2012 for the students from the 1st grade class and for those from the 3rd grade class of the Middle School of Trappeto. The choice of starting these workshops with students from the Middle School expresses the will of investigate teenagers’ expectations and needs and, at the same time, it wants to let them remember Danilo Dolci’s work. Thanks to these workshops, new perspectives and cultural identities have come to light, and the project is aimed to fulfil these needs.
