Partnership of the project “Borgo di Dio” is pleased to invite you to the event called “Giornata del Borgo Comune”, that will take place on Saturday 9th March 2013 at 9am, in the Aula Consiliare inside the city hall of Trappeto and in areas beside Borgo di Dio.
Activities of the project “Borgo di Dio” are indeed moving forward, so this event will represent a moment of joy that also inaugurates the beginning of the renovation work of Borgo di Dio. It is important to participate in this event, in order to celebrate together the transformation of Borgo di Dio, that from a situation of decay is trying to reacquire its glory.
According to Danilo Dolci’s thought, we share with you the renaissance of Borgo di Dio, by taking part in an event during which the memory of the past will meet with the future: starting from the experiences of people who lived in Borgo di Dio in the past, we will reach the expectations of the youth that will be involved in its renovation. Several maieutic workshops will be organised together with some students of the Istituto Comprensivo “R.F.Evola” of Balestrate.
In the frame of these workshops, young participants will be asked to imagine and draw the “Borgo del Futuro” (“Future Borgo”), in order to understand which expectations they have. The event called “Giornata del Borgo Comune” will start with a brief introduction of the project told by Amico Dolci, Danilo’s son and president of Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci. His speech will be followed by the testimony of those people who lived in Borgo di Dio in the years before and who will talk about their experience. Other speakers will be the principal of the Istituto Comprensivo “R.F.Evola” of Balestrate and Dr. Anna Maria Lo Piccolo who will display the works made by students during the previous maieutic workshops.
The event will go ahead with the visit of the green space beside Borgo di Dio, where the architect Giorgio Stockel, who designed Borgo di Dio together with Danilo Dolci, will talk about that first project, by telling also its development and evolution. Then, architect Mariano Genovese will explain the plan of the renovation work of Borgo di Dio, that will start next month.
At the end of the day, participants will receive the needed tools for starting the cleaning of the green spaces of Borgo di Dio and so prepare it for the beginning of the renovation work.
A dinner open to the community will conclude the event.
