61 years after the first Danilo Dolci’s revolutionary hunger strike that took place in Trappeto, partnership of the project “Borgo di Dio”, co-financed by Fondazione con il Sud, is pleased to invite all the community to join a day of events aimed to commemorate Danilo and the activities of Centro di Formazione “Borgo di Dio”. These events will  take place in Trappeto on Monday 14th October 2013.

During this day – that is organised in the frame of a bigger event called “Mesi delle arti di Borgo di Dio”, the Music will play a central role. Music has been indeed an important element in the story of Centro di Formazione, and now it helps to underline that the socio-cultural redemption of a territory passes also through music, because it contributes to citizens’ growth.

Activities will start in the morning at the Middle School “Danilo Dolci” of Trappeto. In the afternoon, from 6pm, at the Conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” of Palermo will be held a conference during wich Daniele Ficola (Director of the Conservatory), Anna Maria Sollima (Professor of Music History), Amico Dolci (President of Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo “Danilo Dolci”) and Francesco Armato (Editor of “Il Palindromo”) will make a speech. By listening to some recordings, they will focus on the figure of Eliodoro Sollima, a composer and a prominent figure among musicians, not only Sicilians.

Speakers will reconstruct the story of “Borgo di Dio” by focusing in particular on the relationship with a lot of musicians and musical institutions since the early 50s, when musical workshops were usually organised at Borgo di Dio and people could learn to play instruments easily, thanks also to the commitment of the best Sicilian musicians, such as Eliodoro Sollima.

Within “Mesi delle arti di Borgo di Dio”, we are preparing other events. For more information, visit our website.
